Heirloom Vegetables

Tyler Arboretum

Sat, Apr 9, 2011, 10:00am - 11:00am

Tickets: $12 members, $15 non-members

Heirloom vegetables are old-time varieties that have been saved and handed down through multiple generations of families.

They are renowned for their flavor, with a diversity that just is not available in today’s hybrids. In addition, locally adapted heirlooms are often the best performers in home gardens. Join Tim Mountz, co-owner of Happy Cat Farm, and learn about selecting, growing, and enjoying heirloom vegetables.

Tim became hooked on heirlooms over 12 years ago when he tasted his first black tomato. His passion led to the development of Happy Cat Organics, his Chester County company that offers a wide variety of seed that thrive in the Delaware Valley area.
