Morris Arboretum's Homeowner's Guide to Tree Selection, Design and Care

This series of lectures and walks provide practical information about designing, planting and maintaining trees in your residential landsacpe. Sessions include:
Designing with Trees with Barry Jeffries, Landscape Architect, Montgomery County Planning Commission. Learn to use various arrangements of trees so you can create spaces that are interesting and attractive. Trees for small garden spaces will be highlighted. Includes a short walk to see how the Arboretum has arranged plantings to create unique spaces in natural and formal settings.
Tree Purchasing and Planting with Jason Lubar, Associate Director, Urban Forestry, Morris Arboretum. Learn what a high-quality tree is and what to look for when purchasing. The basics of tree planting will be covered.
Tree Maintenance: What you can do and when to call a professional with Bryan Thompson-Nowak, Arborist Intern, Morris Arboretum and Jason Lubar. Discuss tree care for young and mature trees, what a homeowner can do, and when to contact an arborist. Common tree problems will be covered as well as techniques to improve the health of a tree.
