April 13 The March Bank’s “Wild Garden”
William Robinson’s idea of a “wild garden” had tremendous influence on H. F. du Pont and directly inspired the creation of the March Bank. One of Robinson’s ideas was to place “perfectly hardy exotic plants under conditions where they will thrive without further care.” This is best demonstrated at Winterthur by the thousands of bulbs that come up every year, creating a remarkable and rare display of beauty. Join garden horticulturist Amy Bloom as we walk through the March Bank, enjoy the beauty, and discuss the facets that make it a true “wild garden.”
Join us for demonstrations, talks, and guided walks covering a wide range of gardening topics. Programs take place on Wednesdays starting at the Winterthur Greenhouses. Visit our Wednesdays at Winterthur page for detailed descriptions of each program. Members free. Included with admission.
