Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania

Mon, Apr 30, 2012, 9am - 4pm

Tickets: 135

Joseph Murray
Biology Professor and Consulting Arborist, Blue Ridge Community College

David Tukey
Neighborhood Coordinator, West Mt. Airy Street

This seminar brings together two great minds in arboriculture who will lead students to a deeper understanding of the basic structure and function of woody stemmed plants. We will learn how they grow, how they respond to injuries and environmental changes, and the mechanisms they use to defend against decay. We will discuss the hormones that bring about growth and change in a plant and we will explore ways to apply that knowledge to care for and extend the lives of both young and mature trees. This information will be valuable for arborists, landscape professionals, tree tenders and members of shade commissions, and gardeners curious to know more about how trees function. This course carries 5.5 CEUs for ISA certified arborists.

Location:

100 East Northwestern Avenue

Philaelphia, PA 19118
