The Beginnings of the Philadelphia Botanical Club

Bartram's Garden

Thu, Apr 26, 2012, 7pm - 8:30pm

Tickets: 0

Bartram Curator Joel Fry will speak about early preservation efforts at Bartram’s Garden, including the fascinating story of Thomas Meehan.  Meehan was an early steward of Bartram’s Garden and one of the founders of the Philadelphia Botanical Club in December 1891.  The first PBC field trip was to Bartram’s Garden in 1892 – and they are visiting the Garden again this year!

Location:  The Academy of Natural Sciences, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.

Enter the Academy through the door on 19th Street near the corner with Cherry Street, and the security guard will direct you to the meeting room.
