Excursion: Grounds for Sculpture, Rat's Restaurant, Princeton University Campus
Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College
Thu, Sep 13, 2012, 7:30am - 6:30pm
Tickets: 100
Discover Princeton University’s historic campus and learn about its formal gardens and collection of trees. The group will have time to meander through Princeton’s charming and eclectic town. The next stop will be the nearby Grounds For Sculpture. The group will enjoy a delicious lunch at the noteworthy Rat’s Restaurant, which has a delightfully imaginative ambiance. The restaurant is named after the character Ratty in Kenneth Grahame's classic, The Wind in the Willows, as Ratty represented everything a host should be. We will then have the afternoon to explore the 35 landscaped acres and the diverse collection of over 250 indoor and outdoor sculptures. Some of the memorable art installations include tableaus by J. Seward Johnson, an American realist artist who bases his work on well-known nineteenth-century paintings. Don’t miss this unique day of gardens, art, and French-inspired comfort cuisine. Limited to 20. Trips are a member-only benefit.
Member registration fee: $100 includes lunch and admission.
