PENNSYLVANIA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY (PHS)
PHS Fall Garden Festival
Saturday, Sept. 22 -- the first day of autumn
9 a.m. to 5 p.m
Location: The Philadelphia Navy Yard parade grounds
Hosted by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the festival will provide the flower bulbs, fall
plantings and trees you need to get your garden on! The festival is family time, with the fast-paced Veggie Races and hands-on pumpkin fun for kids; fantastic shopping in the Marketplace and PHS/Meadowbrook store for mom; and helpful garden tips and “Biergarten”.
Harvest-time contests will include “Garden Giants,” where growers will enter their largest tomatoes, great pumpkins and formidable fruits; and “Garden Bounty,” beautiful arrangements of fall flowers and produce. Winners of the popular PHS City Gardens Contest also will be announced on the festival stage. Joining the festivities will be stars of “The Chew,” the foodies’ favorite show on 6ABC. A sneak peek at the 2013 Philadelphia International Flower Show, “Brilliant!” will also be offered at the fall festival.
PHS members and anyone who joins the PHS family at the festival will be entitled to discounts throughout the event, including free plants, in addition to the year-round benefits of membership.
